The concept here was to refresh a country retreat used for weekend escapes and large family gatherings. Slate floors, reclaimed wood beams, and expansive use of glass connect the house to its wooded and boulder-strewn hillside. Green and orange are the dominant colors, chosen to blend the interiors with the seasons – from spring, to summer and onto fall. And in the winter – when the outside palette turn to grey – these contrasting colors brighten the mood and warm the house. There is plenty of large over-stuffed upholstery to relax eight in front of a fire – perfect after long hikes or a film. Mohair, cashmere, leather hides, and distressed wood were used for their texture and durability.
